Come dressed for success with your resume in hand for an opportunity to meet a live recruiter . Position: Tribunal Member Apply to be a Member Members are the Tribunal’s decision makers. Members hear appeals and write decisions for the Tribunal. The Tribunal recruits new members on an ongoing basis. A Panel Member receives $145 per hearing. A Panel Chair receives $225 per hearing. The Minister, Social Development and Poverty Reduction, appoints members. Appointments are merit-based and done in consultation with the Tribunal Chair. Before applying to become a member, please review the following: Qualifications: Section 82 of the Employment and Assistance Regulation sets out requirements for Members. The Tribunal Chair also includes some other requirements. To be considered for appointment to the Tribunal a candidate must: * Not be an employee, or have been an employee within the past six months, of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction or the Ministry of Education and Child Care; * Not be an employee of the Provincial Government pursuant to the Public Service Act ; and * Not be a recipient of benefits from the programs from which the Tribunal hears appeals.In addition, candidates must possess the following qualifications: * an understanding of the essential elements for the conduct of a fair and objective hearing; * an understanding of the key aspects of the Employment and Assistance Act , the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act , the Child Care Subsidy Act , and their regulations; * ability to interpret and apply legislation; * analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, decision making and decision writing skills; * ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively; * ability to work well in group settings; * computer literacy; * commitment to respect diversity; and * commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance expertise.Members are required to follow the Member Code of Conduct and the Tribunal Practices and Procedures .
