Certified (BCFSC, CAGC, BCWS) Faller or Danger Tree Certified Faller. Type II Fire Crews are BC's busiest contract fire fighters. Each crew of 4 has a certified DTF or DTAF on the crew. Experience on firefighting, documentable, is mandatory. If you are an experienced faller but do not have any firefighting deployment experience (18 days) we can help get you that experience, in order to then become a Type II Faller for us. Payment is paid either as an employee or Sub-contractor, depending on how you are registered. The rate of payment fluctuates based on this from $55.00 Hour ($800 day) to $96.50 Hour ($1,351.00 day), for a 122 hour day. Type II fallers are firefighters first and will be required to do whatever firefighter tasks are required, as well as when required be the crews Faller. Faller rates apply to all types of the work, not just when falling. These fallers are some of the busiest and therefore they are the best paid firefighters in the province. A typical 2 week deployment ranges from $14, 266.00 as an employee Class 3 Faller to $18, 914.00 for a Class 1 contract Faller. many deployment per fire season are possible (5-8 possible). Out of province deployments are also possible. Team players are essential for this Type II fire crew work. Other Type II fire fighter positions are available. Type 2 firefighter pay starts at $30/hour. Crew Lead and Strike Lead pay is up to $55/hour ($640-$800/day). Wildland firefighting experience and/or additional certifications, such as first aid, power saw, danger tree assessor, driving, and crew lead, is compensated by adding pay to the base hourly rate. The daily compensation is based on a 12-hour work day with 8 hours regular pay and 4 hours time and a half. Additional hours worked daily over 12 hours are paid at double the hourly rate.
